Describes the mixing ratio of downs and feathers in weight per cent as well as the bulking power of the downs. In our example, a filling of 100 grams would contain 90 grams downs and ten grams feathers. 800+ inch3 means that under a standard weight a certain number of downs maintain a volume of 800 cubic inch.

Aqua-Skin
100 per cent water-proof and wind-resistant, but breathing laminates. The seams, usually “water bridges“ because of the pricks, are sticked – „taped“.
Bulking power
Also called loft or fillpower. Enabled by the natural elasticity of the keratin, the horn substance where downs consist of. It is measured by putting an unze (= 28 grams) downs in a standardised flask and loading it with with a standard weight. The volume which the downs contain under this weight is the bulking power in cubic inch (inch3). The more, the better the insulation. 900+ such as regarding the Companyon products currently provide the unsurpassed highest quality.
Climashield
Insulating micro-fibre tissue: extremely soft, elastic and light. Inside hollow, macaronsimilar fibres. Do not absorb humidity, but transport it immediately to the outside. Fast-drying and water-resistant. Serves as a synthetic filling material in „Elements“-sleeping bags.

Crystal Down
Filling with at least 90 downs of class I (according to DIN EN 12934), gained from
grown-up geese on European farms in the death-pluck procedure. The little branches are about two centimetres from the core to the end, and therefore enclose large insulating air cushions. Regular controls at the laboratories of the globally acknowledged International Down and Feather Labaratory.
Dry-Skin
Products of this group transport humidity from the body to the outside within shortest
time. They are fast-drying, light, small foldable and protect the skin against UV-radiation with the factor 30+ and above. Particularly suitable in tropical and subtropical regions.

Big question: Synthetics or down?
Often provides for spinning heads during purchase. Four factors are important: Insulation, weight, compressibility and dryness. With regard to the first three, Crystal Downs are unbeatable: No material on this planet warms better and at the same time is incredibly light and foldable to such a small unit like this natural product. Downs provide for a comfortable sleeping climate and transport humidity to the outside. However, not as fast like synthetics: polyster fillings dry faster. Whoever expects his sleeping bag becomes often wet and does not have time to have it dried, is better off with the „Elements“. |

LightyGram
Ripstop-tissue of nylon thread, ten times thinner than a human hair. Very soft and
dense, therefore water resistant and breathing, at the same time tear-proof. A thread of a length from Berlin to Görlitz would be sufiicient to weave one square metre Lighty-Gram; its weight would be 25 grams.Used in the Companyon line and „Yamazaki collection”.

Microscopically fine, calendered Ripstop-tissue of polyester; wind- and water-resistant and breathing. Used e.g. for the „Powerizer“sleeping bag.
Mixing ratio down-feather
Decides about the insulation and filling weight. The higher the down proportion, the lighter and warmer. A hundred per cent down proportion is practically impossible. Now and then it is said a feather residue supports the bulking power, but this is a white lie. It is possible to separate downs and feathers from each other in air-flow channels until only tiny feather parts are left; and is also possible to even select this residue. However, by hand only, which would be extremely expensive and not appropriate compared to the quality benefit.
Move-Skin
Extremely flexible material. High humidity transport, fast-drying and smell-obstructive thanks to Cocona coconut fibres. The UV-protection 50+ complies with Australian standard.
SoftCell
WSoft nylon tissue, transports humidity to the outside within short time. Fast-drying, breathing. Used as lining fabric of „Sunrizer“ and „Fusion“ sleeping bags.
Soft-Skin
Supple, elastic, wind-resistant material. Warms excellent, is above all used for Softshells.
SupCell
Extremely soft, ultra-light and fast-drying Ripstop-tissue of nylon. Transports humidity to the outside. Used as lining fabric for the sleeping bags „Elements“ and „V.I.B.“.
Trec-Skin
Tear-resistant, easy-care, fast-drying, robust, light, small foldable. These textiles protect against UV-radiation with a factor of 30+ and higher.
UltraCell
Smooth and soft light-weight material of nylon with highest breathability. Lining fabric for example for the sleeping bags „Elements“ und „V.I.B.“.
Yeti Ethical Code
Introduced as an initiative against cruel goose keeping. The coding system makes origin, rearing and refinement of the down transparent. For example, 800RP1PWKG955 means: down with 900 inch3, thus the highest possible bulking power, from the Poznan region, farm operation 1, from a Polish White Koluda Goose, filling of 95 per cent down, five percent feathers.
